Meet the Doctors
Endodontist Chester Vaughn Mayo D.M.D., F.A.C.D.
Dr. Mayo is a graduate of The University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After graduation, he served as a Lieutenant in the Navy and completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Balboa Hospital in San Diego, California. Following his military service, he completed a two year Endodontic Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio where he received a Certificate in Endodontics.
Dr. Mayo teaches part time in the Endodontic Residency Program at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry as an adjunct professor and is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Chester “Chet” Mayo was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia, and received his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. He then attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Following dental school, he entered a general practice residency (GPR) in Richmond, Virginia through the VCU Health System. This two-year residency, primarily based at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, provided Dr. Chet Mayo with advanced training in all facets of dentistry.
During his time in Richmond, Dr. Chet Mayo became further interested in the specialty of endodontics. Following his GPR, he and his wife moved to Portland, Oregon. He attended Oregon Health & Science University for two years where he earned his Certificate in Endodontics, as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, and is a Board Eligible Endodontist.
Dr. Chet Mayo now lives in Virginia Beach with his wife. During their two years in Oregon, they loved being outside, and still enjoy a variety of outdoor activities from hiking, camping, and backpacking to kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.
